Actor Gary Dourdan…CSI” star Arrested On Drug Charges

Actor Gary Dourdan, who co-stars on the CBS television hit “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” has been arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine, heroin and other drugs. Dourdan, 41, was detained by police in the desert resort town of Palm Springs, about 100 miles east of Los Angeles, after he was found asleep in the driver’s seat of a parked car. The car had been parked on the wrong side of the street with the interior light left on, and Dourdan appeared to be disoriented and “possibly under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs” when approached by an officer. The officer found substances believed to be cocaine, heroin, Ecstasy and various prescription drugs, as well as drug paraphernalia. Dourdan was arrested, booked for possession of narcotics and dangerous drugs and jailed for about five hours before he was released on $5,000 bail.

 

How did he go from a TV sitcom “A Different World, Showtime’s cable network series “Soul Food, the movie blockbuster “Alien: Resurrection” and now his current series “CSI” which is ranked CBS’s top reated show and most watched on U.S Television to being arrested? I guess even celebrities have problems.

Presidential hopeful Barack Obama stopped in the Solstice Sunglass Boutique on Michigan Avenue in Chicago recently. He said he’s gearing up for the summer and he and his wife, Michelle, have started shopping. I guess they’re getting White House ready.      Juicy J and DJ Paul from the Academy-Award winning rap group Three 6 Mafia guest star in “NUMB3RS” on Friday, May 9 on the CBS Television Network. In the episode, Dan (Rob Morrow) and the FBI investigate the murder of a rap star and uncover a conspiracy of embezzlement and bribery which may be connected to his death. Juicy J and DJ Paul will perform “Lolli Lolli (Pop That Body),” the first single from their new album “Last 2 Walk” which comes out on June 24………

      Actress Angela Bassett will join the cast of “ER.” According to the Hollywood reporter, Angela will play a doctor with a troubled past who’s coming back to the hospital after a few years in Indonesia doing tsunami relief. Angela will begin her role in the second episode of the 15^th and final season of the show. Although she’s guested on several series in the past, this will be her first time as a regular.

Roger Clemens: Rumors of An Affair with Country Music Artist Mindy McCready

Well it looks like Roger Clemens has more trouble to deal with other than his defamation suit against his former personal trainer (Brian McNamee). There is a rumor circulating that he carried on a 10 year affair with an American Country Music artist Mindy McCready. The affair supposedly began when she was just 15 year old. In the past McCready has received significant media coverage regarding personal events in her life. She was once engaged to actor Dean Cain. In 2005 she appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show and spoke of her problems with domestic abuse, depression, and drug abuse. Mindy McCready admitted her ex-boyfriend Billy McKnight had beat her frequently and they had a tumultuous relationship, and that she had tried to commit suicide. Her father was on the show and said that she is often in denial about her problems and that he wanted her to get help and supported her. She also spoke of how growing up her mother wasn’t very loving and encouraging and as a result McCready suffers from poor self-esteem. She is now known mostly for her trouble with the law. Talking to Oprah Winfrey, McCready hoped that her story would encourage and help others, even if it’s only one girl in the world. “You know what we’re all hoping?” Oprah said to Mindy. “That you are that girl.”

Clemens lawyer, Rusty Hardin has confirmed that there was a relationship with McCready but that it was in no way a sexual relationship and that Roger considered her a good family friend. Clemens wife was apparently well aware that McCready traveled with the ballplayer while he played for the Red Sox, Blue Jays, Yankees and Astros.

Kenny Smith is scheduled to interview this week with Knicks president Donnie Walsh about becoming the team’s new general manager. Although Smith has no previous front office experience, he has expressed a desire to run a club.

Smith, who attended Archbishop Molloy High School in Queens and like Walsh is a graduate of North Carolina, has been more visible around Madison Square Garden in recent years while working as a part-time analyst on MSG Network, and has a close relationship with Garden president Steve Mills. Smith’s main job is as an analyst on TNT’s popular studio showm having worked alongside Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson since 1998.

Floyd Mayweather To Start The Indy 500 – May 25th, 2008

Boxing star Floyd Mayweather has been tapped to serve as the honorary starter of the 92^nd Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 25. The world champion boxing star and G-Unit affiliate will wave the green flag to start the race, which will feature 33 drivers on the 2.5 mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) oval track. Mayweather will launch the race, which is the single largest attended sporting event in the world, with an estimated 400,000 people expected to attend. “To be asked to wave the green flag at the Indianapolis 500 is an incredible honor,” Mayweather in a statement said. “I’m extremely excited to be a part of this event and to see the best drivers in the world perform on the biggest stage in all of sports.”

Billy Bush Interviews MaDonna About Her New Video

Billy Bush has snared Ma Donna for her only sit down interview to promote her new video – and he’s got her on the TV side (“Access Holly wood”) and for his new syndicated radio show (no NYC home yet, but I hear they’re getting close). The Bush-Ma Donna sitdown airs tonight on “AH” and later on “The Billy Bush Show” (Part 2 airs Mon day, but only on “AH”).

 

Madonna will perform her first show in NYC with a small intimate performance at the Roseland Ballroom on April 30th in support of her new and last album “Hard Candy”. Policemen Found Not Guilty in the Sean Bell Case

A judge acquitted three New York Police Department detectives of all charges Friday morning in the shooting death of an unarmed man in a 50-bullet barrage, hours before he was to be married.

1 of 3 Detectives Michael Oliver and Gescard Isnora were found not guilty of charges of manslaughter, assault and reckless endangerment in the death of Sean Bell, 23, and the wounding of two of his friends.

Detective Marc Cooper was acquitted of reckless endangerment.

Justice Arthur Cooperman said he found problems with the prosecution’s case. He said some prosecution witnesses contradicted themselves, and he cited prior convictions and incarcerations of witnesses.

He also cited the demeanor of some witnesses on the stand.

As the judge read his decision, Nicole Paultre Bell — Sean Bell’s fiancee before his death — ran from the courtroom, saying, “I’ve got to get out of here.”

The announcement immediately sparked anger among some in the crowd outside the courthouse, but the protests were generally orderly.

One woman shouted at a black police officer, “How can you be proud to wear that uniform? Stand down! Stop working for the masters!”

Patrick Lynch, president of the New York Police Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, said “there’s no winners, there’s no losers” in the case.

“We still have a death that occurred. We still have police officers that have to live with the fact that there was a death involved in their case,” Lynch said.

But, he added, the verdict assured police officers that they will be treated fairly in New York’s courts.

The Rev. Al Sharpton, who has been advising Bell’s fiancee and family, left the courthouse about an hour after the verdict without making a public statement. He had called for calm Wednesday.

Bell, 23, was killed just before dawn on his wedding day, November 25, 2006. He and several friends were winding up an all-night bachelor party at the Kalua Club in Queens, a strip club that was under investigation by a NYPD undercover unit looking into complaints of guns, drugs and prostitution.

Undercover detectives were inside the club, and plainclothes officers were stationed outside.

Witnesses said that about 4 a.m., closing time, as Bell and his friends left the club, an argument broke out. Believing that one of Bell’s friends, Joseph Guzman, was going to get a gun from Bell’s car, one of the undercover detectives followed the men and called for backup.

What happened next was at the heart of the trial, prosecuted by the assistant district attorney in Queens.

Bell, Guzman and Trent Benefield got into the car, with Bell at the wheel. The detectives drew their weapons, said Guzman and Benefield, who testified that they never heard the plainclothes detectives identify themselves as police.

Bell was in a panic to get away from the armed men, his friends testified.

But the detectives thought Bell was trying to run down one of them, according to their lawyers, believed that their lives were in danger and started shooting.

In a frantic 911 call, police can be heard saying, “Shots fired. Undercover units involved.”

A total of 50 bullets were fired by five NYPD officers. Only three were charged with crimes.

Oliver, who reloaded his semiautomatic in the middle of the fray, fired 31 times, Isnora fired 11 times, and Cooper, whose leg was brushed by Bell’s moving car, fired four times, the NYPD said.

No gun was found near Bell or his friends.

Soon after his death, Bell’s fiancee, Nicole Paultre, legally changed her name to Nicole Paultre Bell. She is raising the couple’s two daughters, ages 5 and 1.

“I tell [them] that Daddy’s in heaven now,” she said. “He’s watching over us. He’s our guardian angel. He’s going to be here to protect us and make sure nothing happens to us.”

Detectives Endowment Association President Michael Palladino said forensic and scientific evidence presented during the seven-week trial contradicts the testimony of prosecution witnesses.

But Paultre Bell’s father, Lester Paultre, said, “For those naysayers who say the police was doing their job, they should imagine their child in that car being shot by the police for no reason.”

Paultre Bell, Guzman and Benefield have filed a wrongful-death lawsuit in federal court that has been stayed pending the outcome of the criminal trial. Guzman was shot 16 times, and four bullets, too dangerous to remove, remain in his body, according to his lawyer, Sanford Rubenstein.

Federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of New York have been monitoring the trial. In the event of an acquittal, it is likely authorities would conduct a review to determine whether there were any civil rights violations
