Hosea Chanchez stars on the #1 comedy on the CW, “The Game” (Sundays, 9:30pm).  Chanchez plays “Malik Wright,” a professional quarterback who struggles balancing his blossoming NFL career with the rest of his life. Hosea stars alongside Tia Mowery, Brittany Daniel and Wendy Raquel Robinson as the show centers around the ups and downs and realities of professional football players and the women in their lives.

Born and raised in Alabama, Hosea began his professional career at the age of 15 when he was cast in the national play Glory, a story about three kids trying to make it out of Harlem. With encouragement from his grandparents, at the age of 20 he moved to Los Angeles and initially fell on hard times. For the first 3 weeks he didn’t have a place to stay and had no money, so Chanchez spent those first few weeks in LA sleeping in his car.  Determined to make it, Hosea eventually found an agent and began auditioning which led to a successful string of national commercials. In addition to “The Game,” he has made appearances on hit shows including FX’s “The Shield,” CBS’ “Navy: NCIS,” UPN’s “Girlfriends,” and the WB’s “Jack and Bobby” and “For Your Love.” With a hit show, raw talent, a sense of humor and charming looks this rising star has Hollywood talking.

Chris Paul, New Orleans Hornets point guard gets his own shoe. Chris will have a signature line of shoes called “The Jordan CP which will hit stores this weekend.  The shoe has a “61” etched into it which symbolizes his grandfather. After his grandfather died, Paul played in a high school basketball game scoring exactly 61 points, one for each year his grandfather had lived. The letters “SP” stitched on the backside of the tongue are in loving memory of his mentor and former college coach Skip Prosser. The shoe also comes with Chris Paul’s signature stitch; a bowling pin configuration on the ankle that spotlights his other favorite sport – bowling. The Jordan CP also takes its design inspiration from the rich cultural heritage of the Mardi Gras Indians and the city of New Orleans paying homage to the Hornets with a New Orleans stinger heel pull tab.

George Washington retired the number of former Eagle and NBA player Johnny Newman in a ceremony at mid-court before the Eagles completed their second undefeated regular season in three years by dispatching Franklin County 72-53 in Western Valley District action on Tuesday night. “I cherish this. It’s great… If you dream and you work hard enough and you do what you’re supposed to do, anything is capable of happening. I know that. I’m living proof of it,” Newman said, after being presented a plaque and seeing a banner in his honor unveiled in the rafters. “The kids that are coming behind me, they can look up there and they can see that it can be done.”Newman, a second-round draft pick of the Cleveland Cavaliers 1986, played guard/forward for seven NBA teams during a 16-year pro career. The other teams he’s played for include the New York Knicks, Charlotte Hornets, New Jersey Nets, Milwaukee Bucks, Denver Nuggets and Dallas Mavericks. Newman has also had his No. 20 retired at the University of Richmond, where he graduated from in 1986 as the school’s all-time leading scorer. He twice led the Spiders to the NCAA tournament. Newman wore the No. 22 during his playing days in Danville. It is the first number retired by the school for any sport.“I think it’s very important, because these kids need heroes,” said former longtime GW basketball coach Harry Johnson, who was on hand to help honor his former player.  “Johnny is a hero.”
