Zo’s Million Dollar Shootout

Posted by TSUE on August 11, 2008

Alonzo Mourning’s Popular Golfing Experience to Benefit Children at Risk
WESTCHESTER, NY (August 5th, 2008) — Get your golf clubs ready and practice your best swing!  NBA champion Alonzo Mourning alongside his closest friends from the sports, entertainment, political and business world will host the 5th Annual Zo’s Million Dollar Shootout at the Trump National Golf Club in Westchester, New York on Monday, August 18th, 2008.  To date, not one golfer in town has been able to claim the one million dollars – is this your lucky year?
Zo’s Million Dollar Shootout has been a staple golf outing along the northeast corridor for the past four years, where tons of golfers not only come out to test their swing for the chance at one million dollars but also to support Alonzo Mourning Charities’ community initiatives.  The foundation empowers and educates today’s youth through various educational programs and works to stimulate the development of youth enrichment centers that assists at-risk children in low socioeconomic communities.
“We know there’s a million dollar shooter out there waiting to show off his or her skills so we encourage you to leave your business suits behind for the day and join us on the greens,” said Alonzo Mourning, Founder of Alonzo Mourning Charities.  “Your support helps positively impact the youth we serve who might not have a chance to advance without our assistance.  With increased financial resources, we’re able to change the lives of so many deserving children through education and mentoring.”
Mourning, who has personal ties to the New Jersey area where he lived for several years, is partnering with City of Newark’s Mayor Cory Booker, who will be at the event, to designate a portion of proceeds from Zo’s Million Dollar Shootout to support and fund a local charity project that will be announced soon.  Mourning and Mayor Booker share the same vision for the young people of their communities and recognize the importance of collaborating efforts in order to truly make a difference in the lives of children who need it the most.
Donald Trump and the Trump National Golf Club hosts Zo’s Million Dollar Shootout each year.  The golf course is among the most highly regarded in the area boasting world-class facilities and a 7,291-yard par 72 golf course designed by golf course architect Jim Fazio.  Located in the heart of Westchester County, Trump National Golf Club is just 30 minutes from Manhattan and under an hour from Newark.
Participants in the tournament will not only shoot it out for the chance to win one million dollars, but will also enjoy a complimentary gift bag with top-of-the-line golf gear, welcome breakfast reception, putting contest, round of golf, post-reception feast featuring culinary delights, awards ceremony, and a live auction with exclusive items and experiences up for bid.  Register for a foursome and/or receive additional information by20visiting www.ZoShootOut.com or calling 305/476-0095.

Posted by TSUE on April 22, 2008

Marko Jaricadriana lima & Marko Jaric

Perhaps one of the luckiest guys in the world, Marko Jaric is not only a star basketball player on the Minnesota Timberwolves and in a serious relationship with one of the world’s most beautiful woman, Victoria Secret Model Adriana Lima, but this Serbian born athlete is also a:
·       Real estate mogul
·       Successful website owner
·       Owns the Italian clothing line “Macchia”
Marko Jaric was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. He is the son of Srecko Jaric who is considered one of the greatest international basketball players ever. Originally an early entry candidate for the 1998 NBA Draft but withdrew his name from consideration to sign with Fortitudo Bologna. He did enter the NBA Draft in 2000 when he was selected as the 30th overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers. Jaric was traded to the Timberwolves in August 2005 along with Lionel Chalmers by the Clippers in exchange for Sam Cassell.
With this years NBA basketball season coming to an end, look for Marko spending more time in New York and LA (and getting used to life with constant paparazzi) with his girlfriend, Adriana Lima. Jaric enjoys spending time in his home country of Yugoslavia and Italy. Along with Tony Parker from the San Antonio Spurs, Pau Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies and Andrei Kirilenko from the Utah Jazz, he served as a coach for “Basketball without Boarders,” a basketball camp for young people held in Treviso, Italy during the summer of 2003.  Jaric also takes part in the teamwork at the table Thanksgiving event at St. Joseph’s Center in Venice where he helps distribute food baskets and turkeys to families.

Former NFL-Miles McPherson

McPherson, a former NFL defensive back with the San Diego Chargers, stands at the forefront of “transformation evangelism” and “ministry mobilization”. In addition to leading the Rock Church and Academy in San Diego, McPherson is the President of Miles Ahead which has organized events in 18 cities, including Canada and Africa. An author, McPherson also is an Emmy Award winning producer for the documentary Master Meth, which examines the abuse of crystal methamphetamine.

McPherson, who was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised on Long Island, said the ministry activities in Jamaica are all centered on the practical application of the gospel of Jesus Christ. “Our focus is to represent Christ in both the community and the culture by building smart partnerships and healthy relationships;” said McPherson who emphasized that “faith without works is dead.” (James 2:20).

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica (April 18, 2008) – This month “faith tourism” will reach a new level in Jamaica when hundreds of visitors travel from California to donate their time and treasure to social and humanitarian development programs on the western Caribbean nation.

Close to 300 volunteers from the San Diego-based Miles Ahead organisation will visit the island between April 24 and May 5. They will be led by former National Football League (NFL) player Miles McPherson, who founded Miles Ahead and is known for encouraging people of faith to “DO Something.” (www.therocksandiego.org/dosomething).

Teams of volunteers are scheduled to work on projects that range from health screenings to sports clinics and from deaf interpretation workshops to rebuilding local elementary schools, while making a positive contribution to the island’s economy. The visit forms part of Jamaica Broilers Group’s 50th anniversary celebrations and three major family-oriented festivals, under the Best Dressed 50Fest banner, which will be presented in Mandeville, Montego Bay and Kingston between April 26 and May 4.

The festivals – put together by Jamaica Broilers in partnership with churches across Jamaica, the Luis Palau Association and Miles Ahead – will feature both local and international gospel musicians, including Papa San, Carlene Davis, Prodigal Son, Toby Mac, and Israel Houghton & New Breed, as well as messages of hope from evangelists Luis Palau, Andrew Palau and McPherson himself.  Andrew Palau will present at the Mandeville Festival to be held on the Manchester High School grounds April 26 and 27; Miles McPherson will be at Montego Bay’s Dump Up Beach on May 2 and 3; and Luis Palau will be on the King’s House grounds in Kingston on May 3 and 4.

“We are so excited to be in a position to make evangelistic, social and economic contributions to a culture that has influenced my upbringing and has helped shaped my faith,” said Miles McPherson, senior pastor of the 10,000-strong Rock Church in San Diego. His father and grandparents are from Jamaica.

He is a speaker renowned for his bold, down-to-earth and humorous style and his DO Something trademark. The intense relevance of his message challenges the young and young-minded alike, often compelling them to re-calibrate their lives in light of the Gospel.
