     Recently, Moet & Chandon hosted Angela Bassett’s 50^th surprise birthday party celebration at Angela and her husband Courtney Vance’s private estate in La Canada Flintridge, California. Around 150 of Angela’s closest friends and family showed up to celebrate the actress’s birthday including Samuel L. Jackson and Regina King. At one point in the evening Forest Whitaker and his wife Keisha proposed a beautiful toast in Angela’s honor followed by an unbelievable two hour performance by Stevie Wonder that brought the house down…….

 

     Celebrity Handbag Designer Timmy Woods has created a new handbag inspired by Presidential Candidate Barack Obama. Woods is unveiling her handbag and says a portion of the sales of this bag will be donated to charity. The Obama Handbag was inspired by his sign he always speaks in front of during his rallys and speeches. Woods’ handbags are carried by many stars. Her Eiffel Tower bag was carried Sarah Jessica Parker in “Sex In The City.” Woods says the first Obama handbag will go to Michelle Obama……

 

     They call her “Princess Billie,” but Billie Holliday Jr. is the reigning Queen of Jazz in Harlem and soon to be the world. Whether she’s at the Cotton Club, Minton’s or the Lenox Lounge, this gorgeous woman, who is the spitting image of Lady Day, down to the flowers in her hair, is turning up the heat whenever she performs. Given the name Billie Holiday Jr. by MC Rudy Rush at the Apollo one night, and crowned Princess Billie by the late, great James Brown, this sulty songstress has her own sound and lyrics.      Snoop Dogg has gotten into the fashion business. According to Variety, the West Coast rapper will be unveiling his Rich  Infamous clothing line at the Magic Show in Las Vegas next week. The line will include streetwear for men between the ages o 18-35. It will eventually expand into accessories, grooming and home products!…….

Presidential hopeful Barack Obama stopped in the Solstice Sunglass Boutique on Michigan Avenue in Chicago recently. He said he’s gearing up for the summer and he and his wife, Michelle, have started shopping. I guess they’re getting White House ready. Meanwhile, the Senator reportedly is not only “physically beat” since his Pennsylvania loss, but is frustrated. Says a source: “ He has got to get back on top and show a different combination of support other than the wine and cheese crowd.”…… 

     Juicy J and DJ Paul from the Academy-Award winning rap group Three 6 Mafia guest star in “NUMB3RS” on Friday, May 9 on the CBS Television Network. In the episode, Dan (Rob Morrow) and the FBI investigate the murder of a rap star and uncover a conspiracy of embezzlement and bribery which may be connected to his death. Juicy J and DJ Paul will perform “Lolli Lolli (Pop That Body),” the first single from their new album “Last 2 Walk” which comes out on June 24………

   Newlyweds Beyonce’ and Jay-Z were spotted eating crab cake, stake Diane and Dover sole at posh RL restaurant in Chicago on Saturday night. The couple were in the Windy City for Jay-Z and Mary J. Blige’s Heart of the City tour. Forever working, Beyonce’ joins Ellen Degeneres in a new ad campaign for American Express promoting its exclusive access to various entertainment experiences via the Web site www.americanexpress.com/entertainment……..

      Actress Angela Bassett will join the cast of “ER.” According to the Hollywood reporter, Angela will play a doctor with a troubled past who’s coming back to the hospital after a few years in Indonesia doing tsunami relief. Angela will begin her role in the second episode of the 15^th and final season of the show. Although she’s guested on several series in the past, this will be her first time as a regular.
