Ellia English Turns to Drama with Nurse Role in Cameron Diaz

Baldwin. In the film Diaz will play a former defense attorney who returns to the courtroom to defend herself and her husband when they are sued by their 13-year-old daughter for emancipation. The girl was conceived as a genetic match with the hope she could prolong her cancer-ridden sister’s life. Ellia English plays a pivotal role as a nurse in the film, thus marking a turn toward the dramatic genre for Ellia’s career. My Sister’s Keeper will be released in 2009.

Though currently filming her work in My Sister’s Keeper, Ellia has wrapped work on two other movies that will be released this summer, including: The Hustle starring Charles Murphy, Ashanti and Kim Whitley and the horror movie Cornered starring Steve Guttenberg.

Ellia’s
acting resume is already thick with memorable comedic roles acting with some of today’s greatest comic talents. From her outrageous shenanigans with Dane Cook in Good Luck Chuck (now on DVD) to her current onscreen role in Will Ferrell’s Semi-Pro. Now Ellia is expanding her range with a juicy dramatic role in My Sister’s Keeper.

Ellia English is thoroughly dedicated to a professional life of acting and singing. Ellia has starred on stage in such productions as Haarlem Nocturne, Down Hearted Blues (The Bessie Smith Story) Cotton Club Gala, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, The Colored Museum, Dreamgirls, Romeo & Juliet, Spunk, Showboat, Barnum, Nunsense, and One Mo’ Time, to name a few.
